The E.C. Cruisers Car Club was formed as a non-profit organization in January of 1992 by several employees of the Elliott Company in Jeannette, PA who all shared common interests in anything automotive and their place of employment, the Elliott Company. The gathering of these coworkers and friends turned out to be the beginning of what was to become the E. C. Cruisers. Over the years the Club has continued to increase in size, and is now open to membership outside of the Elliott Company. Fast forward to today, and the membership is comprised of individuals, couples, and families from throughout western Pennsylvania.
There are no restrictions on vehicle ownership in our Club. We have members that own prewar, classic, custom, muscle, streetrod, restomod, kit, foreign, retro, and late model cars. In fact, we have several members that do not even own a collectible car, they just enjoy automobiles, club events, friendships, and giving back to the community.
The E.C. Cruisers consistently hosts a minimum of five annual car cruise events in Westmoreland County consisting of the Greensburg Community Days cruise, two Bovard VFD Burger Bash cruises and the Bruster’s New Stanton BBQ and Ice Cream cruise. Each year ends with the Clubs largest event, the “Cruisin to Help the Kids” cruise, which benefits the Westmoreland County Children First – helping the children in need throughout Westmoreland County. As of 2023 the E.C. Cruisers have donated in excess of $130,000 to the Westmoreland County Children’s First organization. We are humbled and proud to continue to be one of their largest donors, to date.
Other beneficiaries of our cruise proceeds are various local Westmoreland County volunteer fire departments, Easter Seals Society, Boy Scouts of America, Ronald McDonald House, New York Twin Towers Fund, American Diabetes Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Greensburg/Hempfield Library, Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network, City of Greensburg police K-9, Latrobe Police Department, WCCC Ron Waugaman Memorial Fund – which gave scholarships to those entering the Police Academy, various animal shelters, as well as many others worthy organizations.
The E.C. Cruisers also hold an annual Valentine Brunch, summer picnic, and a Christmas party. Monthly meetings are held to provide updates on Club business, presentations, guest speakers, and good food. Several outings are held each year, including a bus trip to an automotive venue promoting good fellowship, education and safety related to automotive industry throughout Western PA. The membership of the Club strives to be a positive influence in the community through charitable functions, donations and community-related events.
The E.C. Cruisers always remembers its beginning, and thanks the Elliott Company and its Founding members for creating a club that continues to be a positive charitable influence in the Westmoreland County Community. The E.C. Cruisers adopted a club logo which consists of a car rearview mirror with dice and the words “Looking Back”, shown above, to reflect on our journey.
Over the past thirty plus years, the E.C. Cruisers Car Club membership has maintained a standard of good fellowship and sportsmanship as well as a common interest in anything automotive. The E.C. Cruisers strives to promote education in the preservation of collectible vehicles and looks forward to many more years of automotive activities and community support.
